Jophy has earned numerous awards and recognition throughout her high school career at international, national, state, and regional levels. These accolades span across academic excellence, STEM-related achievements, volunteerism, and music. See below for more information!

Academic

AP Scholar with Distinction

July 2024- Given by the College Board to students who have achieved an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and score 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. 

National First Generation Recognition

August 2024- Given by the College Board to acknowledge the resilience, dedication, and academic achievements of first-generation students and to support and recognize the accomplishments of these students as they pave the way for future generations in their families.

STEM-Related

Science Fair

International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) Finalist

May 2024- Prestigious recognition awarded to students who have conducted outstanding scientific research and demonstrated innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. As one of the 1,699 finalists, Jophy competed at the international level, presenting her research to an esteemed panel of judges and engaging with fellow young scientists from around the world. 

Jersey Shore Science Fair (DVSF) 1st Place Winner 

March 2024- A regional fair at Stockton University where Jophy competed against students from 34 schools across Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth, and Ocean counties. She earned 1st Place in the Computer Science category. This achievement qualified her to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair, where she continued to showcase her research.

Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) Award Winner 

April 2024- A tri-state ISEF-affiliated fair for middle and high school students in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Jophy won the following awards:

  • Category Award: 1st Place in Computer Science

  • Medalist: one of 12 selected as an ISEF Finalist

  • Special Award: Excellence in Cardiovascular & Metabolism Research

Other

New Jersey Academy of Science (NJAS) 2nd Place Winner

April 2024- Jophy participated in the annual meeting at Kean University, where she earned 2nd Place in the Medicine and Health category. This achievement led to her selection as a New Jersey delegate for the American Junior Academy of Sciences (AJAS), a national honor society that recognizes high school students for outstanding scientific research. As a delegate, Jophy will have the opportunity to present her research at the AJAS annual conference, which is held in conjunction with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting.

National STEM Challenge Finalist

February 2024- Recognized as one of the top 5 researchers in New Jersey from over 2,000 submissions nationwide. This competition, co-sponsored by EXPLR and the U.S. Department of Education with support from the Biden-Harris Administration, celebrates outstanding contributions and research in STEM fields. 

World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY)-AI Showcase Track Finalist

December 2023- Participated in WAICY, the world's largest AI competition for young innovators, supported by Carnegie Mellon University. The competition attracted over 17,200 participants from 64 countries, submitting more than 15,000 projects. Jophy's project was selected as one of <20 high school finalists.

Congressional App Challenge (CAC) Honorable Mention

December 2023- CAC is a prestigious competition aimed at promoting innovation in computer science among high school students. Sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives, the challenge encourages students to create original software applications that address real-world issues. Jophy’s created an app that earned her an honorable mention award from NJ04, congressman Christopher Smith.

Volunteerism

3x Recipient of the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA)

May 2023, January 2024, June 2024- PVSA is a nationally recognized award given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding volunteerism and commitment to serving their communities. Along with the award, she received a certificate and a letter signed by the President of the United States, honoring her commitment to volunteerism.

Community Pillar- New Jersey State Governor Volunteerism Award

June 2024- Issued by the NJ Governor’s Office of Volunteerism, Jophy received a signed certificate from Governor Murphy in recognition of her volunteerism efforts. The award honors individuals who make a significant impact on their communities through a broad range of service efforts. In NJ, with over 1.4 million volunteers, only about 10 individuals received this award from the Governor's office.

Music

Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Violin and Piano Performance Grade 8 with Distinction

March 2022, September 2023-  ABRSM is a prestigious international music examination board, where Grade 8 is the highest level in its graded music exams, requiring advanced technical skill, musicality, and interpretation. Achieving this level with Distinction indicates exceptional proficiency and dedication.
